Company Bio - MEP Michael's Story
In 2016 I was bitten by the pepper growing bug on my quest to find and eat my first Ghost Pepper. I have no clue why I wanted this but nevertheless found it impossible to find a ripe pod to satisfy me. I concluded I would have to grow my own and 100 YouTube videos later I was a master gardener, who only managed to grow an unripe green Ghost Pepper that wasn’t spicy at all.

Fast forward to 2018 after moving back to Charlotte from NCSU to start a new job in Software Development I found myself with a grow tent, a lot of knowledge, and too much time on my hands. This time I was wildly more successful growing a total of 250 pepper plants in 2018 of various types of Super Hot peppers. Unfortunately, by the time of harvest my job had moved me to TN, but with the help of my family I was able to receive a box of my peppers in the mail. I then did what any sane person would do and went to the nearest Walmart to find a blender to make my first hot sauce. Long story short food processors are not blenders, and the floor was soon covered in Trinidad Scorpion & 7 Pot Yellow pepper mash. I did manage to get one bottle of hot sauce out of the whole ordeal, but to my dismay I couldn’t even eat the darn thing because of how incredibly spicy it was.

I knew to pursue my passion I would have to craft something so delicious that I could quit my job and move into a Kitchen/Greenhouse full time, but to do so I had to learn what it takes to make a delicious hot sauce. Thankfully in this day and age we have YouTube where every professional chef can share their hot sauce crafting knowledge with the world. Five months of studying, crafting, and a tremendous amount of trials, I had formulated 3 of my own distinct hot sauces. Offsetting the extreme spiciness from homegrown Carolina Reaper, Trinidad Scorpion, Ghost, and Scotch Bonnet Peppers with the unique sweetness of Grilled Bananas & Pineapple, Mango, and Watermelon gave me the delicious flavor profile I was looking for. Accompanying the spicy sweet blend, we use ingredients such as Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, Roasted Red Bell Peppers, Sun-Dried Tomatoes, and Sautéed Sweet Onions to name a few.

Michael’s Exotic Peppers mission is to introduce everyone to the world of hot sauce through delicious flavors first, while showing the vast variability in what a hot sauce can be. With thousands of varieties of peppers spanning the entire globe experiencing them all might seem out of reach, but through sourcing exotic pepper strains, and building unique hot sauce combinations, our hope moving forward is to bring a great majority of the worlds elusive pepper flavors to your table.
